Tower Record is genius. Vinyl sale has been increasing in most music markets over the word. People think it is more appealing as collectible items and sound more pure. The latter is actually not always true as most recent recordings are done in digital. All Hello! Projects recording have also been done in digital since day one, so these special releases will be remastered from digital to analog. But the emotional appeal still holds. If you have held a vinyl album side by side to a CD of the same album, you know how that huge vinyl cover and booklet feel. In any case, vinyl releases are great, especially for wota who will probably not mind spending $60 for a collectible item.
Also, I have a strong feeling that the Tower Record president is the mastermind behind this. Else, why Second Morning or Tanpopo 1 instead of something like Love Machine? They are clearly targeting fans who will be willing to spend money, and they know what fans want.
