My main problem isn't that they do Photoshop stuff, it's the extent it's sometimes done.

With *48 girls I prefer looking at blog/G+ pics of them over magazine scans. I feel like their selcas are a bit more realistic .

I believe some of AKB girls have some really good bodies (specially Mayuyu and Kashiwagi Yuki, also Kojima Haruna), but I don't find any of them very pretty, Mayuyu and Yukirin have kinda weird faces and Kojima is just plain ugly. I don't like Mariko Shinoda's face either, her body rocks though. Oshima Yuko does nothing for me and Takamina is probably the worst looking idol I've ever seen.

I guess they focus more on their bodies (they do a lot of gravure after all), and if I recall right, it was their philosophy to recruit plain, ordinary looking girls, and making them improve until they can become top idols. ("ugly philosophy"? Reminds me of Busu ni naranai tetsugaku )

I'm no AKB fan but I think Takamina is pretty, but lately she doesn't look too great. Stress getting to her maybe. Mayuyu is cute, from what I can remember from the photoshoot she did with Airi. And that hardcore Berryz wota who is a soloist, sorry I couldn't remember her name ^^; shes quite pretty but her un-lady like gestures can be a turn off And Atsuko is gorgeous. Thats all the AKB girls I know

Acchan was gorgeous, she was my fave in AKB... Mayuyu isn't bad, she's cute, but I've seen too many pics where she looks awkward, also her smile is so fake that is a huge turn off Yukirin's nose is too big and I can't stop staring at it The hardcore Berryz wota is Sashihara Rino (Sasshi), I love her attitude, but she isn't pretty...
I follow every AKB release and I'm pretty familiar with the girls, but to be brutally honest, I believe no one is really beautiful in there, no one is at Sayu, Fukuchan, Maimi, Airi or some others' level of beauty. Also, they have way too many ugly girls. They're hot though.

Anyway, enough with the AKB talk, I don't wanna piss Ampy off

Lol bla bla opinion but how is that even possible? There's 68 girls in AKB48 alone, forget about the side groups. I mean, Tanochan? Seriously, not pretty?

Well (on topic) I don't really find Mizuki all that drop dead gorgeous so, yeah. Even so, I wouldn't say "she's not pretty." I'm sure I won't have any complaints about her photobook other than the fact that she's still a kid.

^ When AKB were first getting popular, I was a a Comic con with a Japanese friend, and looking at an AKB display, she remarked, similarly to P69, "They're not very good-looking, are they? Well, this one here is kind of foreign and exotic. She's pretty." She was pointing at Akimoto. I hadn't yet fallen for Harunyan, or even Oyay at that point, so I kind of agreed with her. But 2013 AKB is a lot prettier overall than 2008 AKB imo, although she still finds them fug and remarks in it whenever their name comes up in convo.

On topic, one of the things I really do miss from the golden era was the frequency and quality of the photo books. The ones now don't seem as, iuno, artistic or something.
