Well, she auditioned when she was 6, but by the time she got in she was 7. Aiko of Da Xiao Jie was slightly younger than Mai when she joined (she was still 6), but she wasn't technically the winner of an audition (she and Frances were finalists in the same audition as Ice Creamusume。, but they didn't actually win it).
Either way, Mai's spent over half of her life in H!P.

Hm, they were finalists that didn't win the Auditions, and finals/losers were put together to form a called xx Musume. That story sounds familiar. Lol.
I completely forgot about Ice Creamusume. Not that I really know that much about them. Thank for that info.
I wonder what Mai and the other H!P kids think of being together for SO long, and for Mai, most of her conscious life.

Don't mind me -- I just like being factual

.
The 6 Ice Creamusume。members actually
did win the audition. Frances and Aiko were both finalists in the same audition, but didn't win. They later became part of H!P Taiwan (same as ICM。) as Da Xiao Jie. They're still active (unlike ICM。) in Taiwan.

Ah, got you.
Do you actually follow that stuff (Ice/Xiao/etc.) too, or just know about it? Just curious.

You bet I do. I don't follow DXJ too closely since I don't know Chinese (of any description), but was was a pretty big ICM。fan back in the day. Too bad they didn't last longer...

Cool. I like your passion for them

, even if I'm not really into them.
The only exposure I've had with ICM was pretty much when they appeared at a H!P concert years ago.
I think it was ICM, and I can't remember if they performed, or just talked.

Really? I think while both young and old(er) new members have their benefits with the girls sixteen and up know what they are giving up when it comes to scandal scenario's like boys or smoking. When your sixteen you've probable had your first love and made a concious choice that you're gonna give all that up while younger girls can sometimes be blind sighted by how hard they fall for a guy if they've never really been in love before.

Age also relates to how they deal with school, like if they'd want to return to their normal life to focus on school or if they end up not going on with high school/university. If you're older, you might already kind of gave up on school (if you're bad at it, for example) or know that you want to be in the entertainment world. If you're younger, you might be more likely to want to quit and go back to focus on school, but you might be able to learn how to balance school and work slowly and more easily, since school isn't as intense for younger kids, and you end up doing both well like Airi.
I guess it depends on how they compare to their peers as well. I forgot if it was Mizuki or Haruna (I think it was Haruna) that was described as seeming more pure than other girls her age.

^ It was Haruna.
I was just thinking that we don't have a yuutousei kyara in MM
