^I know for Mr. Moonlight they hired an actual band to "play" in the background as extras (hearing about the experience from one of the people in that band was how I first heard about Morning Musume in the first place), so I'm assuming the extras know how to use their instruments at least even if they aren't amazing musicians, and not just random guys.

I know that many times (idk if H!P per say, but other companies in general) they'll just hire extras to "play" instruments, since it's not like they're gonna be in the spotlight anyway.
But cool to know that now when I watch the Mr. Moonlight pv, it's a real band. hehe

The more I listen to Naze is the more I like it. I wouldn't complain if they got more songs like it in the future.

Should've gone all the way with the retro, B&W and grainy film effect and all.
...At least in the beginning before fading into colors if doing it the whole way is too much.

I dunno, I'm really digging how nice the current lighting and filters are being done. It's one of the nicest looking videos I've seen from them. It's so.. plush. Colors very reminiscent of an older time period.
I also really adore this song a lot. Come Monday I'll be replaying this video over and over.

Remember, it's not just a throwback to swing. It's electro-swing, which — as I've learned over the past week — is a whole new sub-genre in itself. So applying a bunch of "old-timey" filters and effects would be unnecessarily cheesy and inappropriate, in my opinion.

...well, for the intro bit (w/ oldie radio effect and 1900s style inspired dance) before the horn sections kick in and so called "electro-swing" thingy really starts.
I only watched the first 30 seconds or so, so you may be right on it being inappropriate to be applied to the whole MV.
