It makes me sad to hear Jpop idols affect this "singing" style. FFS, unless you go to a baptist church, just please. Please stop. I'd rather listen to Maasa.

Considering English is not their 1st language, they sounded decent to me.
LOL you made me listen to it. Usually I don't bother with unofficial live recordings. After listening, I have to agree with 321BreakinOut about Sayubee.

I actually liked it, c'mon what do you expect? Mariah Carey level? No one can pull that off

And it's a song in English, which gives Japanese a lot of trouble for pronuntiation, so give the lil' girls some credit

Cough Miho Fukuhara Cough
But anyway my feeling is that Pop Idol and its international derivatives has kind of ruined the art of singing. There's nothing wrong with Soul/Gospel/R&B, I enjoy it very much. But it doesn't need to gobble up every single musical form. No matter how much you like McDonald's, you don't want every restaurant to cook in the style of Mickey D's. And I don't want Beyoncé McCarey in my Haropuro.
I think ultimately, this is why, dispite liking some of it very much, Kpop winds up having limited appeal to me.

I have that exact issue with K-Pop, too. I hear a dance-track single or two and get intrigued for more, then I check out their album which is entirely belting out ballads full of runs.

Ugh that drives me insane. It makes me so wary about buying Kpop Cds.

Nothing to contribute to the rest of this convo except that I love Miho.
And I don't mind KPop ballads so long as the person has a good voice. ALi? Good. Anyone from T-Ara? Not so much, lol.
