is this really a scandal? tabloids didn't break the news. regular TV news reported a news story about a dui accident. Its just getting more coverage than normal.
Yossie's previous accident in 2017 a scandal too?
Yossie is not in H!P.

It didn't start out as a scandal, but it slowly seems to be turning into one with all this start stuff going on.
She may not be in H!P anymore, but she's still associated with the group. And the fact she's had her face out there in the public promoting the H!P 20th anniversary puts her out there as a face of the group, even if she's not in the group anymore.

It doesn't matter who breaks the news first. Both tabloids and TV news are media outlets and it involves someone in the public eye. Last I checked in 2017 she wasn't wasted, then hit someone, then fled the scene, then lied to police. Even if all the other stuff didn't happen how isn't a celebrity being caught drinking and driving not a scandal.

This is definitely a scandal -- and it's an actual scandal and not some non-news romance scandal either. This has impacted people's lives.

On September 12, it was reported that her mother-in-law had survived a suicide attempt after she swallowed a "near lethal dose" of sleeping pills and was rushed to hospital. The suicide attempt was made after a direct interview with a reporter from a weekly magazine which is suspected to be the tabloid Shukan Bunshun, who plan to publish the interview with details about Yoshizawa's married life on September 13.

https://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/article?a ... jprime-entCompletely not reliable but an article mentioned how Yosshi's scandal may have cost Momusu18's Are you Happy an Japan Record Award.

I can imagine that making some current fans angry, even if they'll never know if it's actually true.

Some of those award shows are shady in their own right. But that’s beside the point. Hurting someone else just because they were once associated with them is pretty crappy.

The 'incident' in question I believe.

-------------------
Press are still going wild with this. Grasping at anything that would get clicks.
Here's one that seems to be about how Mano Erina (of all people) might be affected by this.
https://www.asagei.com/excerpt/112092And here's one which appears to suggest that when Yoshizawa inevitably goes to jail, she will be no doubt targeted by the many lesbians present there.
http://www.premiumcyzo.com/modules/memb ... post_8711/And so it goes on and on and on.
I wonder if they'll mention anything at the 21st anniversary event tomorrow.

On the other hand, being in jail (with or without lesbian accompaniment) might get her away from a marriage that she didn't really want, and entered into only because she was under social pressure to set a "good example" by getting married and having kids.
That's purely conjecture on my part, and I'm not going to claim that it's anything else. But it has crossed my mind more than once since she got married and had a kid.
And I do know from direct personal experience that if you've been in the habit of partying and drinking heavily, and you get married largely out of a sense of responsibility, then no matter how committed you are to the marriage, it may be a lot easier to deal with it in the short run by continuing to drink heavily, even if you know it's a bad idea and you've said that you'll stop.
If that or something like it is the case, I do have a lot of sympathy for her - although I agree with pretty much everybody that it isn't a good way to handle anything, it's no excuse for drinking and driving (let alone a DUI with injuries + hit-and-run), and she absolutely needs to get off the stuff and get her life on some kind of non-self-destructive track.
