Maybe they should have tried some K-pop dance covers first?

Hopefully the MV makes up for it, because as of right now it doesn't sound too good.

And it puzzles me to no end because Berryz used to be the group with the most uniform style. Change for the sake of change hasn't favored Berryz a lot, really.

I'm wondering how long have you two been listening to Berryz :P

Even the name Berryz Kobo ( Berryz Workshop ) will tell you that being uniform is the last thing on their minds :giggle:
The Berryz sound keeps changing every 3 singles, more or less. From standard J-pop to J-Rock to totally wierd songs like Monkey Dance XD
I always have this idea of Berryz as Tsunku's testing ground for his new "sounds".

Btw, Asian Celebration kinda sound like Up Up Girls' RespecTokyo.

Since 2006 or 2007 actually  I still think there is a "Berryz" sound and that's why people said cha cha SING was very Berryz-sounding despite it being a cover. Of course that doesn't mean that they have done nothing but Jingisukan-like songs.

^If you look it that way then they do have a style but it crosses so many different genres. Berryz sound to me is the gengki energy they deliver with their song. Its not fixed to a certain genre ^_^

Still, you would say cha cha SING and Yuke Yuke Monkey Dance are particularly Berryz-like, I even recall Captain herself saying Yo no Naka Barairo is a very Berryz song. I never saw anyone saying that about WANT!, for example.

^Becoz sexy is something new to Berryz XD
Well this is the 2nd time they tried to do "sexy". I think it was successful this time :)

I agree Cha Cha Sing and Monkey Dance does have that Berryz feel.

From the concert rip, the song isn't bad. I like the chorus. The verses are probably a lot more polished in the recorded version, and I'll probably end up liking them.

I thought it was nothing much the first through, but I'm listening it another time now and it's pretty catchy.

Wait? Are we talking about Asian Celebration as sexy? Because it's decidely not. It's funky discoteque music that Tsunku loves with some Techno overlayed, so kind of like T-ara's "Roly Poly" - which is also not sexy.

For me the Berryz "sound" is actually a lot older than Yuke Yuke Monkey Dance, which I actually think sticks out in their discography. The Berryz "sound" to me is Anata Nashi, Koi no Jubaku, Special Generation, Munasawagi Scarlett, Nanchuu Koi wo Yatteruu YOU KNOW?, Jiriri Kiteru. They have a TON of songs with that kind of sound but still fun in their discography, even more of those than pure on Sillyness that was "Yuke Yuke Money Dance" (Which I put in a leaque of it's own because was SO OVER THE TOP) and Dschinghis Khan, even Cha Cha Sing (Which these two BARELY count as they're covers. The Berryz sound shouldn't be "Covering Goofy songs from different countries" That's just sad). "Asian Celebration" fits right in if you think about it.

WANT! even has it's place, as much as people hate to admit it. Dakishimete, Dakishimete, Nanchuu Koi wo Yatteruu YOU KNOW?, and a few of those Anime double A-sides have techno in them. WANT! is just an evolution of that because... well all of them are over 18.

I mean if we put Berryz in catagories, we'll find they have just as many goofy songs (If not less) than more serious fair.
