UUG (2) Sasaki Honoka has announced her graduation on April 26th, 2025

The handwriting was on the wall that she was outgrowing UUG(2) but the larger question is, will the group be able to stay together after this? I don't know if the other four women are nearly popular or charismatic enough to attract an audience on their own. I have a soft spot for Shima-chan but I have to admit she's not giving main character energy. And Chinacchan's gonna be 28 this summer! If they were a band maybe they could keep it going indefinitely, but idols have a half-life of well under 25, I think. I guess another option is that they could fold the remaining members into (Kari). Hmm.

UUG(2) play a little game that they call a Shuffle Dance. A song is picked at random out of a box, then the members take slips of papers with their names on them and distribute them randomly. Whichever name they get, that's the part they have to do in the dance. So it ends up with:

Aya doing Chinatsu's steps
Chinatsu doing Ami's steps

And they even change their tops to indicate the person whose steps they are doing.

I don't know the verse division well enough to tell if they're only doing the other person's steps or if they are also singing their verses.

Either way, I wonder, has H!P ever done this? I mean yeah shuffle groups comprised of girls from different groups, but I'm asking about where just one group scrambles the parts they normally sing.

What is Neo-Age (UP UP NEW AGE)...
Neoage (UP UP NEW AGE) is a project to further evolve the "upage" momentum of upupgirls and pursue an idol image suitable for the new era.

Up Up Girls is a group of three groups: Up Up Girls (Kari), which was formed in 2011 with a new lineup of members; Up Up Girls (2017), a five-member group formed in 5 who are living their youth to the fullest; and Up Up Girls (Pro Wrestling), an idol group that sings, dances, and fights in a tag team with DDT Pro Wrestling New project "UP UP NEW AGE" Start.

At the same time, it was announced that auditions for members of "UP UP NEW AGE" would be held.

"UP UP NEW AGE" is a new project by Up Up Girls, aiming to form a new group, and will document the audition and lesson process. It will also be used as content to convey the appeal of the entire Up Up Girls.

The name of the new group will be decided once the members and concept have been finalized, and there is a possibility that the project name "UP UP NEW AGE" itself will become the group name.

Starting at 3pm today, Sunday, March 9th, members from each Up Up Girls group gathered to announce the new project "UP UP NEW AGE". 1st something is wrong with me because at first I found it odd that 23 year olds were auditioning, but not odd when 9 year old's are auditioning.

I don't follow UUG closely, I can only identify Watanabe from Pro Wrestling.

I'm super confused on the official relationship between H!P and UUG. I thought of them not as sister groups but cousin groups. UUG's are doing their own thing but they seem to greatly revere H!P without much interaction. The audition winners were even allowed to name H!P members as their favorite seniors.

^ Officialy I don't think they really have much public relationship now, but they used to. Plus they're still somewhat connected by management crossover. Cousin groups sounds pretty accurate honestly. First UUG group started under UF with a bunch of (barely) former H!P Eggs, direct connection. They showed up at H!P events for a while, covered H!P songs, had worked with active members, etc.

Jump to 2016, their management is outsourced to YU-M (also when they started making new units), led by a former Morning Musume manager, but they (even the new units) were also still listed under UF until sometime in 2023. And YU-M still currently works with some other UF talent (former H!P members).

All that to say, even though it isn't prominent I think maybe there's still enough connection for stuff like the winners being H!P fans/naming members to make sense.
