Happy (now belated) birthday!

I can't recall ever slicing myself while cutting stuff with a knife, but I've done it more than a few times with a mandoline slicer.

(a
safe slice mandoline will save your fingers!!)
(I gave myself a pretty good gash on my leg while using a safety razor last year. I still have the scar!)

I swear it seems like 3 months since your last one.
Anyway...

Happy birthday!

¡Salud, dinero y amor!

Yeah, I have no chill while cooking. I even use a fork to crack eggs. Honestly, I'm pretty clumsy in general. If I'm at someone's house there is a fairly good chance that I will spill a glass before the night is through. I haven't dismembered a finger yet that I know of, but I did slice one open pretty bad trying to put a file drawer back on its track, another time I stapled through a fingernail, and in the kitchen I sliced splash some oil on myself while deep frying and it left a 50 cent piece sized burn on my arm that took months to stop hurting and a couple of years to fade. So I take my sweet time in the kitchen and make no effort to look like a pro.

The problem I had was that my mother wanted potatoes cut a certain way which was not the way I usually do it. Thus I had half a potato that was as wide as the knife superglued, due to the starches, attached to the knife. It’s like a suction cup effect. She was micromanaging me, and I was trying to appease her. It backfired horribly.
Anyway, day 3 and it’s healing fine. It stopped bleeding overnight yesterday. The doctor looked at it and also gave me a tetanus shot since it’s been awhile. Thankfully it doesn’t hurt as much as the last time I got a shot.
Work has been fun. I never realized how much I use that thumb on a daily basis.

Glad to hear it's healing ok!!

Yeah, it's easy to get thrown off your game in that kind of situation. It's like driving a rental on an unfamiliar road while someone is nagging you or otherwise distracting you. You could be a great driver but the skill level might suffer under those circumstances.

Happy birthday, Amped!!

Sorry about your thumb, Q, but glad it's getting better!!
Last year while using the electric hedge trimmer I was careless and hit my upper leg, just above the knee. Got cut open by three of the tines, through my sweatpants. That was a biig terror moment, but despite leaving a scar, it healed up very cleanly, amazingly no infection or anything. I now wear jeans and am much more mindful of not trimming towards myself!

I'm sorry to hear about the thumb injury, Shoujo Q
On the plus side, if you have high ferratin levels the bleeding will have done you good
Over the new year I gave the top of my foot an oil burn when I was cooking on a wood stove. I plopped the food into the pan carelessly, which made the oil splatter. I was feeling it for a while and there will be a minor scar I think.
Yup, I like my knives to have an edge - unlike my parents

It feels like forever since I've been able to login here. The URL I usually used wasn't working so for a split second I was worried the place disappeared.

Shit has been crazy.
Sorry to hear about your knife accident, Shoujo.
