John Cho is better than this.

I find him looking too old to play the part.
Spike Spiegel is 27 in the anime. Cho is 49.

I mean, same, but I could potentially overlook that if the writing didn't seem questionable and some of the acting odd. Even besides Cho I haven't been crazy about most of the cast from the start anyway, so I'll probably remove this from my Watchlist and just wait to see how people react.

Might not seem like a big deal, but considering this all started just a few years ago at a dining table…

^ As I type this, there are ~285,000 live viewers (~205,000 on Twitch, ~80,000 on YouTube).

^ Point of comparison, the average CW network show has a mean viewership (in the 18-49 demographic) of 239,000.

Regarding Critical Role Campaign 3, I think I’m out and I won’t be talking any more about it. Judging by what I saw of the first session/episode, and matching it up with what they said in pre-campaign publicity, they’re doing the two things that I hoped they wouldn’t do.
First, they’re doing the “weird for the sake of weird” thing in order to distinguish Campaign 3 from the two previous campaigns and give it an appearance of novelty. I get it: different continent, more exotic setting, more exotic characters. But to me, it feels self-conscious, overproduced, and even more virtue signal-y than Campaign 2.
And second, they’re doing crossovers with other games in order to build their own “cinematic universe” (for lack of a better term). Turns out that’s what Exandria Unlimited (EXU) is all about. Callbacks to previous campaigns are fine. Recurring guests are fine. But to start with crossover characters from the EXU mini-campaign they ran over the summer…?
No, I’m sorry, with everything else that’s happening in my life right now, I cannot muster enough interest for this. I’m still looking forward to the animated series — which is based on Campaign 1, if that wasn't clear already — and I hope I’ll be in a better place come February so that I can enjoy it.

It's well worth watching after that episode imo! I actually liked it more than Squid Game.

I saw that they're working on a 2nd season of Borderland, so that's definitely exciting news to me.
I meant to mention it a couple weeks ago, but Evil is officially over for the season in case anyone wants to binge it using Paramount+'s free trial. (RIP Peter Scolari.)

Ohh, good to know. I've been waiting for it to end. I'll either binge it with the trial or see how long DVDs take to show up.

I just started watching that show the other day. Only saw one episode, but it was pretty good. I agree regarding Alice in Borderland, but I'm kind of partial toward j-dorama as it is.
