I recently became interested in studying Polish because I have never studied any Slavic languages, and there is a large presence of Polish people in Chicago anyway. I mostly like how it sounds. I am not that interested in all the crazy grammar.

I've gotten used to the sound of some languages to the point where it feels comforting just to hear them, even if I don't speak them very well. i always feel at least a little bit more comfortable and at home when I hear Tagalog (although I only know a few words), and I guess I feel that way to a degree around German and Russian, as well, now that I think about it.

OK. I just made some coffee using the office Keurig machine. I packed one of the reusable plastic-and-screen k-cups with some nice French roast, then pushed buttons and fiddled with the device until it worked (I should probably read the manual 
). It filled the cup about 3/4 full of what looked/smelled like rather weak coffee - so, like the barbarian that I am, I added a heaping spoonful of generic freeze-dried, just to make sure that it was strong enough to keep me awake.
