Erina somehow reminds me of Sashihara Rino. Who is strangely plain... Erina's aura is stronger, I'd say, but still they have that plain-ness that somehow doesn't keep them plain. Idek. xD Erina in a few years will be awesome though, for sure.

Yeah, she has a few facial features that don't personally appeal to me as looking attractive on Japanese girls. But she has lovely skin, nice hair and nice-shaped legs, a warm and expressive disposition, and her personality is quirky and loads of fun. Just because I don't find her pretty doesn't mean she's not overall cute and adorable. For example, my busakawa darlings Kikuchi Ami, Aoki Sayaka and Hamada Britney.

I definitely prefer her over someone like Nacchi, who has a ridiculously pretty face but comes off as fake and boring.

@rpb, As for the first pic, pure Magibon effect, but the gif is hellsa cute, I'll give you that.

@Sohee, Rino huh? I guess in terms of effect, maybe. I kind of put her in a facial category with ex-SDN Serina or ex-idoling Fonchi.

Exactly. I'm not saying she's ugly by a long shot, and among a random draw of girls from the street she'd be on top, I'm sure... but unfortunately H!P is far from a random draw and is instead populated by some damn gorgeous ladies.
But like Zunu, I enjoy her earnest, quirky personality, and I'm definitely never upset that she's in a picture.

YouTube cam girl (and MM fan) who almost never said anything and simply stared into the camera. She seemed cute enough, and so she attracted many fans, but in fact she used the camera angle and foreshortening to hide the fact that she had a not-so-cute large mouth and really, really bad teeth.

Interestingly, this was revealed when she was invited to Japan and appeared on one of Mari Yaguchi's shows.

I believe it's the effect of using camera angles to disguise the fact that you're actually not that attractive .

(Celedam and Starra beat me but )it's when the camera is angled down on your face. It makes your eyes look larger and chin look smaller, magnifying your cuteness. Magibon (MRirian) was a YouTuber a few years back who exploited this to the max. She'd peer into the camera and say nothing, or a few words in halting Japanese. She had big pretty mysterious eyes and a huge following, especially in Japan. Eventually she was invited to appear on a Japanese TV show and people saw that in person she was weird, short and unattractive, and that was pretty much the end of her phenomenon.

Edit: In retrospect, there's nothing wrong with her face that good dental work couldn't fix.

Plus, Sayumi has spoken of this same effect many times. She makes a habit of taking pix with her camera angled down.
