I tend to prefer higher voices (Eri, Reina, Kago), but Masaki's voice is too thin/shrill for me to enjoy in most songs. But I like it a lot in cute/happy songs (like that new b-side) and as long as she isn't singing anything too high for her.

I actually think Masaki has a really good vocal range, she's really underrated.

She has both a good high and low range.

Not Really? Most of the girls in MM right now have lower toned voices (Riho, Kanon, Haruna, Ayumi, Sakura, Haruka), it's Reina who has a really high voice

(20 to 1 that it's Reina doing the backup vocals in most of the last 3 singles and that's why it sounds so high pitched)

If you really want to know~

In the last single, Sayumi, Riho and Tsunku.
In 123 it was credited as Morning Musume, Chino and Tsunku.
In Renai Hunter, Sayumi, Mizuki, Riho and Hitoaki Takeuchi

If you want to further, Risa, Sayumi and Chino were chorus in PPUltra.

So it would seem Sayumi is your main culprit since Takahashi left, not Reina. xD

I noted that Takahashi dominated most of the chorus if it wasn't credited as Morning Musume.

Chino, Tsunku and Hitoaki Takeuchi have been rather frequent in MM songs. I can't say for any other group, since I don't collect their singles.
