I'm so tempted to use a black-letter font for technical documentation - I can just imagine people trying to find their way through a zillion pages of software instructions that look like this (in 7 point, of course):

Got jury duty on Monday. Well, technically I was on call for it for two weeks since Friday, but I didn’t have to report that day. Already took the day off so I just enjoyed it. At this point in the school year everyone is out of motivation. Actually looking forward to catching up on some reading at the courthouse.

It is a good place to get a lot of reading done. You do meet interesting people in the jury waiting room sometimes - but only sometimes.

The first time I had to go to the county courthouse for jury duty, during the two-hour lunch break I discovered a great used bookstore in the neighborhood (now long gone), where I found some 19th-century Armenian books and a $5 copy of a rare children's book from the 1920s that was one of Tolkien's inspirations for The Hobbit. So it was time well spent.

So for jury duty in DC you're summoned for a 2-week period and you have to call at 5pm every evening to check if you need to report to court the next day, and it's just super annoying to figure out work. It helps that we're teaching mostly virtually now and I'm able to just assign work to the students, but it's still really annoying. I'm at the court house this morning.

Most of L. A County has a one-week call-in period (with no initial courthouse check-in), which is much easier. But even then, I think it's harder for teachers, if only because of the need to line up a substitute.
