Also it's really not that hard to check Oricon...
Are we ever going to stop commenting on that. It's unnecessarily passive aggressive.

Well, saying it more bluntly doesn't seem to go over well either, so should we simply ignore such requests?
Actually, maybe we should. Maybe people will learn only when they have no other choice.
That would be interesting to see, I think — what happens to a community when it's top five (or whatever) contributors just stop contributing…
(Hey, someone wrote a book about that.)

That was going to be my suggestion. Answer the question or don't. We don't need the two of you telling us how easy the Oricon site is to navigate every time someone has a question.

And Idk if you can look pass 30 to see today's ranking.

I'm curious, what
exactly is your objection? Are you saying that people really are too stupid and helpless to learn how to do it for themselves? Because that's the only case I can think of in which it would be offensive to say they're not…

I think it could be easily misinterpreted as a condescending tone since we're in a strictly text based media lol, especially when we don't exactly know the reason why they can't look it up themselves.
sorry for butting in btw, just my 2cents

It just seems really lazy when people ask about Oricon rankings. Like, if you're that curious, go and look it up yourself. And if you can't figure out how to do that... lol.

i'm all for people looking things up on their own, but you two are not the best people to suggest that. you guys have a habit of telling people what the proper way of thinking/acting/going about things is, and so suggesting people that they look things up themselves just comes off as a lecture and not a friendly suggestion (especially with the way you two tend to phrase your suggestions).
also you guys assume that they are asking because they are too lazy to look it up themselves, or haven't bothered to do the work involved in figuring out how to do things themselves. that's not always case.. sometimes people may be on a slow connection and the site isn't loading for them, as happened to someone recently. sometimes they may be checking from work and can't load the site, as was the case this time. other times it may be something hard to explain.. like perhaps this person looks things up for themselves all the time, but at the moment they are in the middle of cooking and have to go watch the pot and so instead of waiting until they are done cooking and eating to look it up, they post a quick question that maybe someone will have a quick answer to that they can read while they are stirring the pasta.
it's not a horrible thing to ask once in a while. and if you notice a person is always asking and never does things for themselves, then maybe you can make a friendly suggestion like, "hey, have you tried bookmarking this link on Oricon? that way you can see the ranking any time you want. top-right tab also links to daily rankings."

If they have problems accessing Oricon, it's not that hard to mention it. How are we meant to know they're not just being lazy?
