Kimagure Princess is the one song I can think of from that era where somebody made genuinely bad production choices (chipmunk voices, weird cowboy outfits, worse-than-usual flames

). The rest of them are so well done that when I listen to them, I don't hear anything I can really argue with. But (with the exception of Resonant Blue and maybe Aruiteru) they just don't seem catchy to me. Most of the singles would have made excellent album cuts and first-rate b-sides (and I've got a lot of respect for good album cuts and b-sides), but I just wasn't hearing very many hooks at all.

I just had no interest in any of the remaining members, plus it seems like they waited so long after Aika/Jun/Lin to have auditions again, so that's why I was gone/inactive for something like... five years? until 9th gen joined and I loved all 4 new girls. And from 10th gen I especially love Masaki and Ayumi, but honestly the group as a whole just feels... refreshing. Especially to me since the last time I sat down and watched a MM concert was Yossi's graduation and so it's a completely new set of girls (aside from Sayu and Reina).
I mean, guys, just to give you an idea of how much I love MM again -- I freaking bought the One, Two, Three single. I haven't purchased anything H!P since like, an Ongaku Gatas concert back in 2008. xD;;
This is pretty much exactly what happened with me. I'm paying way more attention to H!P in general now than I ever did during "Platinum era." I don't have or understand the attachment to that time frame since I wasn't a part of it. I think stagnation in the group was a problem also. I think they're doing extremely well right now and we should appreciate that a little bit.
Also 2003-2007 was badass except that I had to hear Dekkai 85896328092 times because they thought it was such a super great concert ending song and it's really not.

And just because you mentioned it, it's running through my head now. That's what kind of song it is.

I always feel like I'm the only one who absolutely loved Kimagure Princess.

^^ I liked KP too.
And I didn't abandon MM when Hitomi and Miki left either.
I was amazed how well MM did without them.
I didn't miss them at all after awhile.
I do miss all the Platinum's now though.
IMHO they were the best.
2nd best was the Rainbow 7 formation with Hitomi and Miki.

I find I don't miss anyone when they graduate. Even people that I really loved like Yossy, JunJun, and Aika.

The only one I really miss is Eri...but at the same time, I recognize that even if Eririn returns to the spotlight, it's impossible for the 2005 Eri of Eric Kamezou no Maido Arii to come back, and the 23 year old woman who is Kamei Eri now wouldn't fit well into "Reborn" Morning Musume. I think the main reason I still miss her and not any of my other favorites is because she has stayed completely out of the limelight. I did miss Aibon for a long time, but she kinda wore out her return with one non-classy stunt after another.
