Berryz Koubou have gone on indefinite hiatus as of 3/3

It's always easy to say in retrospect that we saw this coming because so-and-so's face looked bored in a PV or what have you, but as a DD Berryz fan, I can say that I am legitimately shocked. Paying attention to all of their releases, their DVD Magazine's, their TV Appearances, making-ofs and etc, they were always energetic and enjoyed what they do. They have a dynamic and camaraderie that is the best out of all of the H!P groups when it came to concert MCs, backstage footage, or DVD Magazine's. They line up jokes with ease, and have rapid-fire banter.

lol writing anything in-favor of Berryz on this forum is like shouting into empty space though lol. No one ever hears it, and is already thoroughly convinced that Berryz was limping along the past 3 years due to sales and Maasa's face in PVs.

I just want to go on record that for me personally there never was any issue of them not being energetic, of them not seeming into it or anything of the sort.
At most I offered some criticism about Maasa letting her physical condition slide.

I expected it simply because they're pushing 10 years plus.
That's very rare in the world of (female) idols.
But I never felt they were phoning it in or anything like that.

Their releases were solid and much more to my own liking than °C-ute's.
Their DVD magazine segments, MC's and other appearances were like a safe zone in H!P.
You know they would pull it off, it would be funny and they would play well off of each other.

In many ways they offered a nice alternative to all the energetic young guns that joined H!P in the last three years.
In the sense of: "Ok, let's not worry about getting another Oricon #1 in a row or five tv-appearances in a week. Let's just genuinely have fun, and the rest will take care of itself."

Same tbh. Even if they weren't going on hiatus they'd still be leaving H!P because they're getting up there in age for Hello! Project's current standards.

Momoko . I'd never expect to see someone like her to be crying like that. Berryz Koubou was most of her childhood, she basically had a majority of her memories in that group, as for the rest of them.

They may not be the ones who smile the most, or the most vocally talented, or the most in sync dancers, but you can not deny their love for the group.

Now see, there's a difference between being sad for something and not letting go.
It has only a bit more than a day since the announcement.
i'm sorry to tell you this, but the more hardcore "berryz" fans here kinda find it hard to get over that fact. Over the next while it might get better, but at the moment, it doesn't make much sense for the more Berryz-oriented fans like myself to get over it.
When sayu announced her graduation, people were sad and doing exactly this for at least a week after the announcement. And you didn't see anyone saying "get over it" there.
So yes, we need to let go, but not yet. We still need to first let it sink in. It's hard to know that you will be losing something you love in a year.

^ The same way "Sayu graduating", in your words, "had to happen." So I don't see why people (aka Starra) are mad that people can't let go that Berryz is going to disband, but aren't mad that people can't let go that Sayu is graduating.
Boggles the mind.

...Unless Starra also doesn't like those people with Sayu too.

but I don't see what's wrong with not letting go. It's kinda like losing a loved one. It's something you've cherished for a long amount of time, of course it's going to be hard letting go.

Yup, that's what they've been discussing. If none of them made the Finals this year, they'd go on hiatus. You peeps who didn't try hard enough to save them from being voted off are to blame.


^I think sometimes long time fans forget just how irrationally people tend to act when it's their first major graduation. Fan of course, is short for fanatic so of course end of the world thoughts come to mind. I remember when Maki Goto graduated it was a big deal. But stuff like this is old hat to me so I'm good. It's other people's turns to freak out.
